If I'm in a good mood i'l carry it downstairs and use it for the garden but most the time it goes down the bathroom drain. Is there anything specific one should do with it

my water changes are small since my tank's a tiny nano, so a bit of it goes towards my houseplants and the rest goes down the drain. really bad I know.
I'll go and chuck it outside in the garden, promise!

I use it for my container garden and the rest gets thrown outside in the community garden.

Finally someone asking the right questions :)

How do you know wether or not there is anything in the water that will harm the south african ecosystem.
Perhaps a tiny BL snail. or a trimming from a BL plant....

Apart from wasting water that could otherwise have "two" uses.

yes, same reason why you dont flush certain chemicals or things like motor oil or other solvents down the drain.
    contamination.

besides, recycling the water is the 'green' thing to do

Well since I have small tanks, its easy enough for my to syphon the water off into buckets and water the garden with it.

Do people do that? Suppose so. If people can make a coal fire in the living room, store coal in the bath, they can do anything...
