    Hi all.
So I've had my 1.5ft planted tank going for about 3 weeks now and I'm a little concerned because my water has gone brown twice! Both times about three days after adding Aqua-Master ferts. I have a little 300lph PUMP in there for circulation and CO2 diffusion. Could I be that I don't have a filter, or should I try different ferts. I will be ordering from the prof soon so I'll switch over then.

    Any ideas?

    Regards

do you have wood in your tank? if so its the tannins in the wood leaching into the water.

Why not give all the specs of the tank?
    Fish?
    Plants?
    Lights?
    Substrate?
Maybe you'll get helped without allot of guessing.

Only have two small pieces of wood but I soaked them beforehand.
Suppose the specs would help hey?
Specs: 1.5ft tank with 1X8W Bulb at 6200K and 1X10W.
Substrate is PFP with chemicult capped with PFS. No fish in the tank- wanted to experiment with the plants.
Plants: lotsXValis. 3XAmazon. 1XAnumbia and a Bocapi of sorts (Will ask for and ID tomorrow)
    Thanks

The brown is being cause by the wood and the PFP. Why are you only running a pump in their and no Filter. With no filter, the benficial bacteria will have nothing to colonize, and thus your water perameters will be shocking. You will never be able to put fish into that tank. And the moment you put a filter in, you would then be starting the cycle.

Thanks for clearing that up Zoom. Put in a filter this morning. Little internal and the pump. It was an experiment so I'll get it right eventually. I wasn't planning on putting in fish without the filter. But I'll wait a while for the cycle to be complete and then maybe some white clouds. I will check my reading beforehand.

    Thanks
