Check these cute guys! Quite amazing how quickly it all happened. Within a week of introducing a female and a cave, papa is guarding his babies!

The wrigglers are just too cute!

Got to say this is one of the most rewarding and exciting parts of this hobby when you are able to make fish happy and comfortable enough to feel the need to reproduce.

    Congrats, enjoy them!

Thanks David. Agreed, it's so rewarding to know one's pets are happy enough to make babies.

Update on the fry. They grow very quickly. Colour has now changed from orange to brown.20211107_203048.jpg

Yup get ready to be over run with BN Plecoso_O A small tip, I find the baby pleco fry always do well on peeled, boiled carrots. I peel a carrot or 2 or 3 and then place in a microwave dish with hot water and nuke in the micro wave for 10 mins. This gets all the air out and they will sink when you put them in the tank. Just wait for them to cool down.

Babies are out and about. Hoping they all make it! Have placed some cooked carrot peels in the tank as per David's recommendation.

I think David meant use the peeled carrots, not the peels? Could be wrong but the peels may have pesticides on them unless you know for sure it was grown organically.

Never done peels before, @A new day is correct, its the actual carrot. I am also always nervous about what gets sprayed onto our vegetables these days, that may not be harmful to us but could be deadly to fish, hence with carrots, wash them, peel them, Throw away the peels  and then nuke it in the microwave in hot water. I usually am feeding around 100 pleco's in many various tanks at any one time, so I will do around 8 or so carrots for 10 mins in boiling water in the MW oven. For 1 carrot I would recommend at least 4 minutes. The heat will almost certainly kill any nasty stuff that my be bad for fish and also get most of the air out so that it will sink when you put it into the tank. Of coarse wait for the carrot to reach room temp before you put it into the tank.

Thanks David. I misread your initial message lol. All the plecos are alive though so all good!
