    Good day all.

I have been doing research on the net for the smaller tetra's that only grow between 2.5 - 4.5 cm

    6 x Flame Tetras
    6 x Red Phantom Tetras
    6 x Rosy Tetras
5 x Lemon Tetras or 6 Neon Tetras or 6 Glowlight Tetras or
    3-4 Rummy Nose Tetras
    3 -6 Pygmy corydoras

This will be house in my 70 Liter tank.

Think it will be sufficient for my tank will be doing 40% water changes weekly
    Got 1 x Aquaclear 200 HOB filter
    1 x Dolphin F1200 Internal Filter.

Will be adding Seachem Matrix soon.

@hviviers75 - That sounds like a lot of fish for 70l. Good luck and enjoy...

    Hi everybody.

I miscalculated my tank volume it is actually a 96.5liter corner pentagon tank.

How many fishes of my original list can I add extra I know it wont be a lot maybe 6 extra.

    Please advise.

    Cheers.

Try and get about 6 of all the fish you can. Rummy nose tetras like large shoals.

I like your choice of fish. In 'The Simple Guide to Freshwater Aquariums", David Boruchowitz suggests 4 - 5 schools of 6 Tetras for a 29 gallon (110l tank). Seeing you have chosen littlies, what you have so far sounds good. He also recommends 50% water change per week.

Rather go for bigger but fewer schools. They will be much bolder in bigger groups. If you find you have room for more, you can add them later. I'd suggest you get a school of minimum 6 Pygmy Cories. They will also be more confident in a bigger group. I have just 3 (was 6, but 3 died in transport). They are very skittish in such a small group and I am battling to find more. - So if you do find some let me know please ;)

Just a heads-up, which I'm sure you know - don't add all the fish at once. Add them in batches to give your filter a chance to establish between additions.

Just take note I have got a corner pentagon tank I cant see it being a problem.
from the one corner to the other corner is about 65cm
Sure it will be enough for these fishes I chose.

    Please advise.
    Thanks.

i think you could get away with the numbers of fish if you go low tech planted, but you are pushing the limits, maybe cut out one species? the only think i disagree with is that rummynose tetra's will need to be in a larger school, i think minimum 10, also they prefer warmer waters, up to 33deg, so to accomodate them and the other tetra's, i think you should try to keep in not lower than 27 deg, the other fish ofcourse would not be able to handle 33deg.

otherwise i think its a nice selection of reasonably peaceful fish.. altho i have no idea on the nature of flame tetra's or red phantom's, but i do knwo that the red phantoms are absolutely stunning once they put on some weight and settle in..

another idea would of course be to only go 3 species of fish and boost the numbers in the schools, say, 10 rosy-fin tetra's and 10 red phantoms.. or something like that..

    I agree with with @mydummyname,

Fewer species with more individuals is probably a better way to go.
Tetras are shoaling species and are happiest among their own kind - the more, the better. :)

I also thought of going only maybe 2 or 3 species of tetras and choosing 9 of each then get 4 -6 juli cory or three lined corydoras.

Quick question can I go as low as 3 cory with 1 x Ancistrus Pleco?

Will also be doing 40 - 50 % water changes weekly.

I will leave the rummy nose tetras then.

i think 3 corys are ok, but they prefer 5. the ancistrus should be fine.

rather do 2 x 20% water changes weekly, this will keep your water parameters more stable with less chance of wild fluctuations in PH etc, which can be very dangerous to fish, also with 2X weekly water changes, your nitrates, etc will never peak so your fish are happier and healthier.

are you gona be adding some real plants to the tank? with 2 x weekly water changes real plants would soon take off..

Okay then cool will get 5 corys, that is a good idea will rater do 2 x 20% water changes one on Monday nights and one on Thursday nights.

Very very good idea, I did not think of that.

No I don't like real plants so that wont be and issue.

why not plant a small vallis, the leaves grow nice and long, even in low lighting conditions, and you can tell if its doing well, coz it will sprout a new little vallis after a while if its happy :)

yes, your plants would grow very well with more frequent water changes, because they benefit from the nutrients in fresh water (dechlorinated of course ;)
