    Hi All,

I am about to invest in another tank of 400 + liters and then I will move my discuss into the new tank.

How do you heat up your water for large tanks, especially when you doing an almost 30 - 50% change? I mean I have 4 X 100 liter bins but they sit outside in my backyard. Ambient temperature in Uganda is pretty good and with the sun hitting the bins most of the day, I normally have pretty close water temp to the tank when I do my current water changes but I am curious to know how you manage, especially in the SA winter time. Do you stick heaters in there overnight or mix with geyser water?

I have used geyser water in the past without problems, the declorinator apparently removes the copper. I now use aquarium heater in 150l bins where I age the water for about 24-48 hours, switch the heaters on a couple of hours before WC.

I use 2 x 100L water containers with 2 x300W heaters. I put it on before going to work in the morning, and do my water change when I get home in the afternoon.

We have always used water heated by heat pump and stored in geyser. We also on borehole water
Use Prime with water changes and never let the water stand for long, we use as we mix and never had a problem

I use geyser water, never had problems. I was all iffy about it at first, but found I was slacking on water changes because it was too difficult to heat up the water, so switched to geyser and it's working great.

In our area, winter overnight temperatures often drop to -7/ -8.
Our borehole water is cold..... To heat up with heaters all the water needed for several tanks was a mission so we took chance using geyser water and never had problem.
