What tank background do you guys and girls prefer and why? Non 3D backgrounds.

Black Backgrounds. Brings out the color of some fish species and plants look awesome. Green against black contrasts very nice.

@johanbosman - I suppose it depends on the tank. A black (as suggested by @SloMo.00.) or blue background looks great on a planted tank. In a bare tank a printed background adds the planted look. Personal choice.

i prefer no background, with some long plants like vallis making a wall at the back, it gives the tank more depth, makes it seem bigger.. at the end of the day it will depends on what you like the most :)

lol all vallis likes is lots of water changes and you good to go :) it also spreads very quickly, within a week or 2 of planting your first vallis, you can expect it to start sending out shoots of new plants..

lol i beleive youre reducing your lighting period? give it a week or 2 i'm sure it will get better :)

rememebr to vacuum the dead algae that will be laying on the substrate after a while.

    Sorry - off topic
@mydummyname - Should I cut the ends of the infected plants off or will the change in light cause it to "fall" off?

you could wait for it to fall off, but its better to cut the ends, less mess to have to clean up afterwards, and all that dead algae laying about just adds to the bioload..

Cut it off. Clipping plants encourages plant growth anyway...
