    Another first for TASA

My Super Red Ancistrus spawned last week, and the eggs were fertile and hatched yesterday.
I thought it prudent to wait till after they hatched before making this post as many thing can go wrong.
After a week of biting my nails as to their fertility, I was over the moon when they did hatch.
The next hurdle will be the genetics. Will they breed true ?
Another wait and see few weeks ahead.
Before my inbox gets flooded for first dibs, lets just see how these fish develop and how many survive.
One step closer for Super Red Ancistrus being readily available on the South African market.

    Thanks everyone.
What a roller-coast ride got in last night to find the cave empty. Not one wiggly.:worried:
I am hoping they were kicked out of the cave by the males inexperience and not dead or eaten.
There were a few eggs kicked out of the cave that hatched so there are a few fry left - i hope
I could only find 3 fry. I managed this picture.

    :( OH NO!!!
I am sorry to hear that! Hope they will breed again soon
I had to do an emergency rescue of my albino wigglys on Sunday when they hatched. The lemon tetras attacked the babies.
Managed to save 13, have them in a 15litre tank without their daddy, but they seem to be doing well

    Glad you saved them.
Once they hatch they can be separated from the father - that's what i will do with the next batch.

Found another fry this morning, which means the eggs that were kicked out of the cave survived.
Yep, Ancistrus are not the most intelligent fish. Seen that plenty times. Killing them selves in stupid ways.
Super Reds are also the most fussy eaters from all the plecs I have kept.

    The fry are doing well.
    Their yolk sacs absorbed.
Also good news is they a good whitetish yellow color except for one.
