What an awesome school of clowns...Dont think you know how lucky you are to get such a nice collection of them so quickly... If you ever get up our side of the country,do yourself a favour and visit the Hartebeespoort Aquarium - there is a display of a Southern asian system with a school of these guys,,,some of the largest females are close to 25cm and FAT...the black bands fade a bit by then, but a truely magnificent sight to behold...other cool BL species too...he,he...

Just a question on pic one... If the adled brain this side still has some funtion left, remember you saying that you have Blood parrots? The 2 I see in pic 1 looks more like tatood/dyed ones... Are they sorta neon pink in places? If so,they have been subjected to a very cruel practise where producers in the East inject all kind of colours into fish by needle... Only about 40% survive this process and leave them open to all kinds of infections,Lymphocistes being the most common... also the colour fades away in 6 months or so..
This is one of my pet gripes - please read up on this and go and k@k out your LFS... Could just be an overexposed pic as well, but I believe that a guy like you will feel as strongly about this issue as I do...

awesome Clownies though - didnt want to hijack the thread, sorry @natnat

Firstly i need to thank you, your support and encouragement and positivity were one of the reasons i got these fish, so thank you!

    As for the parrots

A guy like me will feel very strongly about this issue indeed, but imagine what a girl like me may feel:blink1: !!!!

As much as i know, and i did investigate, the parrots are "clean" i am aware of the dyeing tattooing practice and will never support it. The pet shop reassured me that they weren't, they were young and display the usual parrot color, very healthy and active. I think that what you see in the picture is both the flash and the pink neon i installed yesterday that accentuate the red hue making the parrots look like they are glowing (also the red spotted deacon)

i am attaching an older photos of the parrots in more natural light IMG_2586.jpg

lol @natnat --> mucho apoligioso.. thats the problem with online nicks - in no way gender specific at all...lol

Parrots look more normal in latest pic,but still a bit pink... Think that they are just the dyed kind - very young fish are left in a strong dye solution, absorbs this and colour fades out with time...
There is a thread somewhere on here about these issues - scratch around a bit...

well, there quite a few females on the forum, i do think some of them do seem to have gone quiet recently tho..

my wife is also a member, but she is more a lurker and rarely posts, i think she feels that she hears more than enough about fish from me as it is lol, altho she has her own tank too, a malawi setup.

yep thats right they make a clicking sound, often when they are happy. some loache keepers often refer to them as loache singing. really quite awesome
