My cichlid has been acting unusual for the last 3 months now. She is eating wonderfully but otherwise she just lies at the bottom of the tank, usually in the corner. Seems like she has lost some weight as well. When i open the lid & feed she darts up very much alive & eats vigorously. My other fish in the same tank is super happy. Could this be old age setting in?

I had the same problem with my Malawi cichlids , check your tank temperature and also see if any of the other fish bully it... What i did is put the fish in a separate tank and let it rest on its on for a while and see what happens, Its just my 5c worth...hope your fishy gets well soon

Also think it sounds like a fish that is being picked on.

Thanks guys, that might be a possibility as all the other fish are at least twice its size...

What fish do you have in the tank? What is the size of the tank? How much rock, for hiding places, do you have in the tank? Have you seen any of the other fish chasing this one? The fact it is much smaller than the others does not mean anything unless it has others of the same species in the tank. Quite often females chase other females and cause more problems than a dominant male.
What are your water parameters? PH, KH, GH! You can look at adding in some salt, from time to time, at a rate of about 100gr per 100l of water. I find this quite often tends to perk up those that seem to b down.
