    Hi, @Aqua , Your Rope fish should survive just fine, this ROPE FISH are very naughty fish, i had 3 a few years back and because my Tank did not have a canopy nor the side glass 90 degree to prevent fish out my Rope fish would jump out and wonder around the living room! I once found them all inside a Plant vase i had in one corner, they can survive up to 8 hours outside your tank, and yes they create the mucous walls to protect theirs gills and help with respiration!! If you looking to buy more i was at Aquatic Vission in Bracknfell a couple days ago and they had a tank full of them they going for R35 if i am not mistaken, Sam's aquariums in the northern suburbs also have rope fish i was there 2 weeks ago, give them a call and find out!!

    Hope your fish recovers to normal :)

    Thanks @Rico, I am happy to say that he seems to be much better today :) and got him a friend, will get another 2 or so as soon as I can get out to one of the LPS's that have stock, the 2 I saw at a shop close to me today were not looking very healthy, so I passed on them, and just got one from @Altum for now...

    @Aqua,
    Good to hear the fish is better today.
    It was most likely in shock from it's little adventure!
