Evening everybody, so @symphysodon and I have been playing around with a semi planted very low tech 3ft. It has suspended light so no lid. Currently it houses at least 8 bumblebee gobies, one oto, one ancistrus sp ucayali, and I believe 4 dwarf puffers. I know there is differing opinions on the salinity in which the gobies should be kept. Mine have been in full fresh for more than a year, are extraordinarily fat with vibrant colours.

Main plants used are anubia, java moss and hair algae (works great if you ask me). I want to add more hair algae but the tank looks very empty fish wise. I have no ideas what I could add to the tank?

    Thanks

Excuse the glare, bad placement of the tank

I have a 6ft full of angels and worried they might hassle the gobies. Butterflies have always been on my wish list but worried they might jump. Neons could be very nice. Want to add more otos but they are pretty hard to find, same goes for more dwarf puffers

Still can't get over the Hair Algae as a plant but it actually works. You make choosing company for the current inhabitants not easy as both of them are fin nippers and rather shy fishes. I will rather grow the 2 schools you currently have and maby add a few Peacock Gobies as the will be able to fend the others off. If you can find some Knight Gobies it might work as well.

Bu the way if you need more Hair Algae I have some in a bucket for you:aetsch:

They will jump. I had one jump out my tank before. The tank had a canopy on it, but I had left the trap door open to let heat from the lights out. Over night he jumped and managed to aim himself through the open gap. So a closed lid is essential with Butterflies. I think I have also read they can be aggressive to one another if the tank is not big enough, I have only ever kept them 1 at a time. Cool fish.

Going to add a lot more algae and wood and whatnot. I think the peacock gobies would work nicely, but knight gobies prefer more brackish if I remember correctly. For some reason with the hair algae the water looks more green? Confuses me very much but anyway will be getting more soon.
I often go to my mom's plot and catch a lot of water bugs, bring them home and add to the tank.
The hair algae provides lots of hiding places for the bugs and that in turn keeps the fish busy and reinforces "hunting" behaviour. Also have an outside tank with lots of bugs.
