    Hey all

Just been thinking about it a lot lately, what fish do you think are REAL pets? As in they come to recognise you, eat you your hand, and can become a household pet comparable to a dog or cat.

So far I've had two really good experiences - one was with my Oscars, who were very comfortable around me, and then my old (now deceased) mudskippers, who'd do little dances in front of the tank when they wanted food.

What do you guys think? Any really cool 'wet pets' experiences?

We once had a pond with Koi in it and they became very tame after some time.. Would come eat at the top and you could put you hand in without scaring them away, they would even nibble at your finger :)

My guppys know when its feeding time so they come to the top when im around the tank, but are still scared :)

My 5 Angels eat from my hand
They know when I'm going to feed them, they follow me up and down the tank.

All my angels, including the babies, will come and nibble on my fingers and greet me when I come near their tanks (yeah, I know, they just want food, but to me they are greeting me :) )

My new addition, red eye red-tailed puffer, is already coming and greeting me when I say hello to him and comes to the surface of the water when I'm getting ready to feed him his snails etc. She's a real beauty she is!

The Rams are just as 'friendly' although I've never tried having them feed from my hand or anything :)

Puffers are apparently the best fish to have, mainly because they just know how to be cute :)

Also some of the larger catfish are also said to be quite great pets to have.

Oscars hands down, which is why I love keeping them.

Then again generally Cichlids have more personality than most.
