    Yes this tank was running pressurised co2. I used t5 lights in all my tanks. This one had 216w - 4x 54w. 2x6500k, 1x8500k and 1x 10000k

@Taufeek I got my sponge from Pet Stop, in Pretoria. It is a bit of a drive for you so it might be a good idea to phone them before you go through.

Hi, I want to know if chemical media (filtration) important in a shrimp tank? A sponge filter only offer mechanical and biological filtration so? Assume the tanks might be over stocked with shrimp and weekly changes of 10-20%.
    Thanks in advance.

A sponge filter is all you need in a shrimp tank.

Weekly 10-20% water changes are not necessary for shrimp. Once a month is fine.
They prefer stable conditions though, and a tank that has completely cycled.

The easiest would be a small sponge filter connected to an air pump.
I use the Tetratec range, as they are silent. The APS 50 would be fine on that tank.

Easiest ones to DIY are the water polisher filter with a small coldrink bottle and a cheap power head.

I have made many of them and filled them with many different types of sponge and filter floss media for many different applications and they work great.

Simply get a small bottle cut off the bottom about a quarter down, fill with filler floss attach to power head and off you go.

    Have fun!!

Hi, so my tank has been running for about 5 days. I tested Kh and it was zero. Is that a problem or would it change as it cycle ?

I would not even bother with Kh for now. Just keep it cycling for at least another 5 days. To test after 10 days you can always go out and het a couple of tetras put them in feed them for another 7 to 10 days and if they survive and thrive you are good to go.
