Nice!! always keen on pics.. i see plastic in there, y not plant it up. do u have a light in there. if you don't mind me asking how much did this setup cost you?
theres one plastic cause i urgently needed some cover , i need to buy a light still but haha this tank came about because my cichlids are very aggressive with my corys and tetras so this tank is gonna be for them but i plan on putting a lot more plants in and a cave for the corys to hide out in. this setup has prolly cost me 700 rand
i boutgh a starter kit but it had nothing that i was satsified with for my fish so i had to buy gravel and a heater and a new pump etc
woaaaw! thats pretty hectic, would it not have been a better option to go 3 foot rather at that price? yeah i know what you mean about the starter kits.. they are pretty rubish. how many fish are you thinking of putting in there ? will you be putting the cichlids in there? im not very familiar with cichlid but i hear they are plant killers.. similar to silver dollars. apparently they even eat the plastic soft plants if u use them..
its just a pair of flag cichlids they havnt eaten my plants yet i think , hvnt noticed anything yet , the little guys are peaceful but haha just dont agree with my corys so 5 corys along with 5 glowlight tetras will move in the 30L , but yea i certainly learnt a good lesson about starter kits , i went with it thinking it was the right size tank etc and came with stuff , my main issue was space so at least the 30L fits in there for me
Looking good. @Ammar, cichlids also include angels, discus and oscars. Not all cichlids will eat plants.
so got two yellow guppies setlling in for now and then the pilgrimage will begin for my tetras and corys
its just to little guppies in it right now , i think im going to move the other fish today , but they dont seem to be getting the brunt of the cichlid agression so there is still time
Awesome. How long have the guppies been in the tank and have you tested your water to check everything is ok?
the guppies have been in the tank for about 2 days now , its bit risky to move the tetras but i felt it would be ok and i need to get the fish out for the fry now , tetras were a worry for me cause they wouldve been more prone to eating the fry
Hi @KennyG - I didn't want to respond on HappyBoy's thread about the endlers. From what I understand (anyone with more info - please correct me if I'm wrong) endlers and guppies will mate but the offsping would be infertile so that would be the end of the line...Maybe ask the Prof.
@MarcHawke oh so its ur whole mule story there... maybe i can put the endlers with the cichlids and theyll also be more calm with a smaller peaceful bunch around?
@MarcHawke - Yes, Guppies and Endlers will produce offspring but the are in fact not infertile. I have some Endler x Japan blues I bought from Prof Dirk and they are reproducing like crazy. Here is a pic of the males. The females look like normal Endler females These guys are still very young but they look like their father - tail fins still need to grow a bit and fully color up
