    Well, if you have some nice filter media from the already running tank with the knife in you could transfer abit of the sponge or what you use into the filter to get things started up. De-chlor the water first.

    How big is your second tank? You don't want a knife going into a tiny tank no suitable for it size as you said they do grow fast.

    @Turok,
    We had similar question/thread a short while ago.
    BGK are predatory, that is their nature.
    What other fish do you keep it with?

    Also, what do you feed it?
    Once a knife developes the habit of attacking other fish, it is hard to break. But if you feed a varied, balanced diet, you may be able to.
    Minced fish, minced prawns, minced shellfish, bloodworm etc are a good idea.

    Re setting up the 2nd tank, you could take some of te media from the filter of the current tank, and put it in the 2nd filter, and start using straight away. Just feed small amounts for the first few weeks until the filter can cope.

    @Turok,
    40L isn't really suitable for a BGK. Maybe just for a day or two, but not long term.
    Declor is a liquid you use to treat your tap water to bind to the nasties in it, and render them harmless to the fish.
    How do you treat your water?

    You need to make sure the tank is cycled completely as Black Ghost do not have any scales and any small amount of nitrites will kill it very quickly .

    as Foggy has mentioned, it has not scales, so stressing the bgk will be a bad idea.
    and as for the 40L tank, it is not suitable but like you said its just for a day or 2
    but then what? where you gonna put him/her after that?
    Did you take my suggestion by putting some food for him/her when the light goes out?
    Give that a try - mind me asking? how big is ur BGK?

    That ghostknife is going to vreet:eating: all your neons and similar sized fish. I know of a ghostknife just a little bigger that finished off a school of 30 neons over a period of two weeks...he hunted down the last neon. you have to decide what kind of fish you want to keep, perhaps some bigger species with the knife instead of another tank. i notice that people will always ask about the ghostknife cause its a bit unusual.

    no, u will get ammonia spike...read up on the nitrogen cycle. The only safe way to add fish now is to dose with somethin like seachem stability for a week...u can then add fish to a new tank ie on day one...has worked for me several times.

    I agree with @disco, there will be an ammonia spike.
    Can you not take some media from your current filter and put it in the filter in the new tank?

    But as we have said above, 40L is not ok for a bgk for more than a few days.
    What are your long term plans for the fish?
