Hi all. I was lucky enough to be given some discus a day ago. Got 9 of them in my planted tank. They are all eating and seem to be fine for now. As you all know I do regular water changes etc . I got a few pictures can you tell me what they are?

It's hard to tell at this age what variety they are going to turn out to be, as they don't have a lot of colour yet. This is actually good, as it means they haven't been artificially hormone treated. One is a Snakeskin, that just means it has more bars than usual (14 I think). One looks like some sort of Turquoise with quite a bit of red, and another looks as if it might turn out to be a Cobalt Blue. You don't have any Pigeon Bloods or Diamonds (neither of which have bars).
Domestic discus are generally not too fussy about pH etc as long as it's stable. Don't try to use chemicals to change it. Just make sure your temperature is high enough (30) and concentrate on feeding often and doing lots of water changes.

    Hi thank you very much.

Ph is about 6'5 temp is around 28'5 they eat blood worm, flake, and any thing I give them. They are not shy at all and swim all over the tank. They some times pick up food from the substrate is that normal? They also stick together.

    Thanks again for the tips.

You do know that you'll need to feed these guys at least 6 times a day? So that means the waste load is going to be way more than what your tank is currently used to. You will need to increase your water change frequency to at least 50% every 2nd day or so... It's Extremely difficult to keep juvenile discus in a planted aquarium because of the hectic feeding habits.

And trust me, you'll need to feed them that much so they don't stunt.

Hi. Yes they seem to be eating well. Will my plants be ok with the high temps? Well, it's my first time with discus so wish me luck.
