    Hi all

I'm sure there are a few herpetologists here (as well as others) who can help me out here - what beetle species are we dealing with when we buy mealworms and the so-called 'super worms'?

Just as an FYI - the super worms I am referring to here are the 3-5cm ones, and the mealworms are the smaller, somewhat darker 1-2cm ones. They're found in most pet stores, especially stores that sell reptiles.

As far as I can tell from what I've dug up, we're dealing with a species of Tenebrio here, at least with the 'super worms'. I could very well be wrong though.

Finally, which of you guys feeds these to their fish? They are a little hard-bodied, and I've heard of issues with their claws, but I've fed some to larger fish of mine with success. I've even come across people who cut them up finely and feed them to smaller fish. How about you guys?

    Regards

EDIT: nevermind on the ID - I found out what mealworms and superworms are.

    Hi Salmon

I dont feed mealworms to my fish but I have see a few people who feed them to their oscars, not as a staple food but as a treat or inbetweener. If that makes sense.
