marvin the BN plec, male or female?

hey guys this is just to satisfy my curiosity but i was wondering how do you tell if my BN is a male or female? he or she has been with me since i started fish keeping 2 years ago and is now full grown at around 15cm long. i dont even know which BN I got. its spotty, has a faily large dorsal fin and has a white tip to it. i'm rather fond of it, and when i left the shop i asked what should i name you and the name marvin popped into my head and so marvin it was. it was 5cm long when i got it so he/she has grown considerable hehe:bigsmile:

If it has a beard then it's a male

 

awesome so no name change required, one of my original bronze cories went from george to georgina when i found out the sex, thank goodness mavin can keep his name. he has a very pronounced "beard"

 

With my breeding pair approximately the same size as yours, the female has almost no bristles..so I would suggest that Merle is not an option.
