    hi all

im sitting with a little problem.

seems like my convict tank started leaking.

Two adults and the fry are in there.

Water level hardly dropped but it is there...

Asked my girlfriend to pick up some marine silicone after work from the hardware up the road.

luckly i tested it mith tisue and saw where the problem is.

Will be able to seel it where its standing without draining.

Tank is 13 years old, and 150 liters.

About 300 mm thick shop window glass.

Picked the tank up 4 years ago for R200 with lid and stand.

Anyway, i will keep you guys updated

One of my worst fears, being a leaking tank.

Bad news for sure, I would move the fish to another tank or a plastic bin/tote with the filter running on it, strip the tank down and redo the whole thing better safe than sorry .....after all that tank and silicon is pretty old.....

Sho...that's thick as balls man

Personally, I'd also add the fish into a tub, or your WC bucket and redo the silicone completely.

Just think about our roads, what happens when they patch the potholes. Pretty soon the hole is back...but if they re-tar an entire stretch of road (not that it happens often...cheap ass public works department mofo's)...it lasts much, much longer!

    Oops, forgot to add...

Remember even marine silicone gives off harmful fumes until it's cured.. Don't risk it Dude.. You love your Bonnie and Clyde.. Rather remove them and do it right than take shortcuts and regret it..

Got the tank fixed with a product called aquabond.

its like a putty, stronger and more water tight than silicone.

its used to repair boats and none toxic, and works under water.

sets in an hour, but leek stopped as soon as i applied it.

Was R90 from hardware up the road.

    Didnt even drain the tank.

but i moved some babys to the other tank anyway.

Thanks for your input and comments.
