so this is Ares, i dont think he's a veiltail, maybe a spade or delta? he made his first bubblenest tonight which i'm very happy about, might mean he's settling in. he's quite aggresive and has a go at everything! even the siphon pipe which ended up with him getting sucked down into the bucket and he's split his tail again and removed a few scales on the top of his head and on his side:rolleyes:, i was dosing with TetraMedi General Tonic as when i got him and a lil female they had climed into each other and had torn fins so i gota tolerate the neon green water for a few more days. i went to get some Koi food for my mom and saw him with the female in the same tank and what got me was his bright blue eye which you cant really see in the photos. he looks so much like that halfmoon that i liked on aquabid, i posted it on the betta group. he's even got slight patterning on his cheeks:bigsmile: aint he pretty:bigsmile:

Hi Windfire that is a really nice looking betta. The colored cheeks comes from wild betta. You will see it in most of them. So the betta can't be to far from its wild ancestors.

thanks vis, what tail type do you think he is? i will get some pics of him flaring once his tail is properly healed, right now the first tear is healing but its still might tear easily. and of coarse he did tear his tail again tonight. as an after thought can anyone identify the plant in the backgound? not the grasses the one with roundish leaves, i got it cos i wanted something else in the tank other than the swords, i never did like them in this scape. all the plants gotta hurry up and grow now hehe. i wanna breed him with the female which i think is his sister cos she's starting to get some black around the edge of her healed fins, thats if i can find a decent market for the fry.

thanks evryone he's quite a character but it now seems the "female" i got with him might actually be a male. i dont see that small white spot under the tail like in my other females, and he or she has been chasing the other females around like crazy. if its male his fins are seriously destroyed!

Yes Xtremewife. They are called plakats. And you also get them in all kinds of fin types.

thanks stormer and xtreme wife, i love his black fin outlines and the blue in the red. i know about plakats but my reasoning is this, i have bubblenests every morning when i feed and he doesnt have that white spot at the base of the tail oh and he has a very pronounced beard when he flares. which he does quite a bit, he's an aggressive boy just lke Ares. i'll try get pics, hes currently in a divided 1ft with my female in the other half. oh and Ares built me a bubblenest 2 days ago, Vulcan never built me a nest but between these two i think its going to be a verycommon sight now hehe.
