    Hey guys,

Recently this thread: What type of plant is this? was closed because it is claimed that hygrophilia difformis is illegal. I am totally confused with this because I have actually made an effort to find out about this topic. I grow and sell aquatic plants locally and don't want to break the law or hurt the environment, so i have consulted a weed scientist (no not happy grass) the DEA as well as other intellectuals who specialize on this topic and they have sent me a local no grow list. This plant is not part of it. Apparently the black list that everyone refers to on this site is the import black list and not the local no grow list.

Am I wrong? Can someone please shed some light on this topic for me?

Nope, you're not wrong. That is correct. There is an invasive weed list, which we are not allowed to grow and trade locally. This includes the beloved Cabomba plant.

Then, there is the import black list. These plants are not allowed to be imported, but a majority of them are allowed to be grown and traded locally. H. difformis appears on this list, as they could "potentially" be a threat if importe

so @tracyp that means that this thread What type of plant is this? has to be reopened since i am NOT trading in illegal plants and further more, that thread was about a plant ID and not a sale anyways. Sorry, im not usually anal about these things but i think people deserve the right info.

    i'll post this list later.

@shihr - the thread has been reopened. I apologize - this is still the left overs from the Henk days. We would love it if either of you could put a post together explaining the difference between the BL and the no grow list. Its still new to me and I would love to have some more info on the subject so that we can see how we can change the policies on the forum.

hey Wyvren, i have explained it on my thread on APSA. Local No Grow List (Black List)

basically, you can grow, propagate, keep, distribute, sell etc plants that arent on this list. so for instance, Hygrophilia Difformis is on the IMPORT BLACK LIST but not on the LOCAL LIST. so you cannot import it but you can grow it locally if it is here already.

what exactly is left over from the Henk days?
