Hi All, i have a planted community tank, this weekend when i was going to do a water change, i sotted 2 tiny fry hiding in the moss, i dont know which fish had babies in the tank, could be the corys, could be the platiies, could be could be, so i started trying to catch them, managed to get 8 fry in total, got them in another tank and they seem ok, BUT, i am not sure about feeding, ive been dong some reading and see that microworm can be used, i also popped in at a pet shop this weekend and saw that they are selling mcroworm cultures, so i could get one, so are microworms good? also see some people say baby brine shrimp is good, where do i get baby brine shrimp and is ti expensive? are there any other options?

currently, i am crushing tetra bits and giving it to them, but them dont seem to be eating on it at all, i pulled off a chunk of moss from the planted tank and put it in there with them, so i think there may be some micro organisms on there that they can nibble on.

any help with this would be appreciated, Thank You.

    Hi Nadeem

Okay Micro Worm is good, BBS you actually need to know some one that has hatched them or you need to hatch them yourself. Most LFS have bbs eggs. Cost like R50 and then you need to hatch them. You could maybe post a pic and we can identify what fish species it is. That would help a lot setting up a diet for them. HTH

Maybe give the sponsors a shout for bbs eggs?

    Hi Nadeem

I will go with the Platy`s as they are live bearers, and survival rate are much better then egg layers in a comunity but anything is possible. Micro worms are easy to harvest, and can be fed emediately, but they do not have the nutritional value of BS, BS can be rather expensive, but can be bought in smaller containers, and yes @hein24 is right +- R50, this should last you long enough with smaller batches of fry.

If it is Platys try braking up small bits of flakes, they should take it within a day or two, they are not fussy eaters.

    Good luck
