Freswater tank.

Hi all I thought of starting of fresh so I will get my self a dolphin cf300 canister filter for my tank.

 

Ok I'm going to sell my fish and start a new and fresh planted tank.

 

What will the best plant's to put in the tank.

I would also recommend fast growing so you get the tank settled in quickly.

Limnophila sessiliflora: A great choice since it grows really quickly and can be propagated by taking a cutting sticking it in your substrate. This way, you get lots of plants without having to wait too long.

Pearlweed: Some people might not like it because it needs frequent maintenance but I love it because it grows in thick if you keep it short. It can also be a background plant if you let it do its thing.

Dwarf hair grass: Some people classify it as a medium demand plant but I have had lots of success with it with no real effort. It also spreads out nicely.

Java fern: Also an easy grower. Not terribly fast but it looks great when you give it enough light.

 

Ok think's what type off light will I need .

 

No need to go for the wildly expensive stuff or even something with a wide colour spectrum. 6500k colour will do just fine. I suggest an LED strip light that is roughly as long (from left to right) as your tank. I have seen great results with very low-cost lights.

 

Ok and what is that black rocks name that i need to use for my planted tank for the plants.

The tanks lid is 70cm and the light is 34cm.

 

And is this the right soil for my tank. And it says size 4l does that means it will only fit in a 4l.

 

I think you should head to your local pet shop that deals in fish, and perhaps get some advice from them.
