The way I see it. The smaller legal species we can get grow to around 60 cm disc and 60 cm sting if my info is correct . I always try work on the double size minimum so I reckon a 2x2 tank would be more than adequate . I must be honest and say I am very tempted in my 2x1.5 tank but I'm more concerned my jardini kills the little pup.

They need big tanks. And very clean water.[/quote]

one can say that about 100% of the fish we keep.

That's also true yes. But Stingrays are more vulnerable then other species with regards to Nitrate levels. So Frequent water changes will have to be on the agenda. Probably like discus with a daily % water change.

Definitely. And some money obviously. They are somewhat expensive. Not 100% sure on their diet, but I'm sure snails are in there somewhere. Also no sharp substrate pfs or fine substrate.

The white ray looks like Himantura species. The other looks a little like a Potamotrygon species, possibly P Motoro which is commonly available but on the BL.

Himantura species grow huge and are really not for home aquaria - I dont know of any small species in this genera.

Potamotrygon are more suitable but still grow large and need proper conditions and a large tank. Several species are available which are not on the BL and most are under R3k.

_MG_4847.jpgI understand this to be the potamotrygon schumacheri(i stand to be corrected) the smaller if not smallest of the species which i did not see on the BL.

Personally I would not use a tank less than 3x2m with a height of 60cm. But the recommended minimum is 2m long by 1,2m wide and the height is upto you and your budget. Naturally this question must be answered in view of the species you want to keep.

3000 x 2000 x 600 tank is a fair sized tank, about 3600 litres. Would be interesting to know what the minimum glass thickness spec would be for such a tank.

Personally I wouldn't take that gamble. The Jardini is just too much of it's own uniqueness. If it was a Silver Aro, no problem. Even if they are in the pic together, I still like the Jardini above the Rays.
