Foam for 1 foot HMF needed
Can anyone help in Pretoria ?

 

@Corne - This will do nicely.... http://www.bio-elite.co.za/filterfoam.htm - they are a Joburg based wholesale company,so you might have to get creative in getting it - Speak to Didi and see if he can order you some.... Not cheap,but just the thing for building a HMF...

How big do you want to make the filter ? a corner unit or the whole back / side panel? For a small tank like the 1 ft you can use an airlift in a aquaclear 70 filter sponge and get close to similar filtration properties. Now if the idea is to hide stuff behind the filter wall then it means you are going to loose a chunk of tank to the hmf and the pump in the back. What pump you planning on using?

Your advice is very good I was also wondering about the whole foam thing
Our LFS has a double round foam air driven filter am going to connect the intake of the power head so it sucks trough the two sponges and I can clean them alternatively not interrupting the bio ? I think it will work
I have crazy DIY skills with polycomp and a soldering iron lol

Nope - mine is a much higher foam cell count filter.... will not work at all as an HMF base.... The moss will never be able to penetrate and colonise a foam base that has such small holes....
