First breeding tank!

Hi all
thinking of setting up a breeding tank, but not sure what 2 get!
or how 2 go about it,need some help any any info will be great!

so far:60L tank and 30L tank for any fry, only using fake plants and rocks and extra decor!

mayby some small cichlids or someing with great colour. and something for a beginner or so!

i only want 2 get a pair in a 60L tank and try 2 breed nothing big, i have a 60l tank and 2x 30l tanks already with heaters and pumps so i really cant buy any more tanks now just need 2 setup something extra and see how it goes.

 

Ok but what do u want to breed...breeding tanks sould be bare bottom with sponge filters or HOB with a sponge cobering holes, unless its cave spawners? The less deco the better for maintenence and water quality.

 

oh!! well i was thinking of setting up a tank with decor and gravel etc and just get a pair of fish out of a group and see if they will breed.
basicly just a normal setup with one male and female or to females almost like a show tank or someting like that.
like 2 go cichlid root. hope i am making sense or can a person not do it like that?

 

or mayby i must just leave that and go with a betta setup in the 60L tank!

 

60L is perfect for Bettas, No decor except plastic plant is fine....@26 deg C Heater and songe filter, turn filter off untill fry hatch, turn on after third day off fry free swimming.

 

what fish looks good in colour but also breeds easly! and will work in a60L tank?

and also is easy to look after a betta setup!

 

Well not mouch unless its 1 specific colour...then ciclids lake melawis cause they are fine in a 2 foor per pair, my knowledge on breeding them is not good, but other ciclids like angels is good.

Are you asking is it easy to breed bettas ?

 

no on the betta breeding just if they r easy 2 look after?
as for the cichlids will do some extra reading on how 2 keep a breeding pair!

may even buy a betta from u!

Hey dude, I think you should make a decision based on what fish really "speaks" to you (if you know what I mean!) Breeding's a lot of work and you don't want to get into it with a couple of fish you end up not liking that much. Because that would just be work You like cichlids; look at the different types of cichlids and choose a species you're really passionate about. Obviously then check to see if they're easy or difficult to breed and so on!
