filter media

hey guys
I have a planted tank with a fluval 205
the filter media include fluval water polishing pad , Hydor hyrok , bio balls and some round tube things made of plastic i think.
My question is if i add ferts will the filter media absorb the ferts or can i add them knowing that they wont be absorbed ???

What is the composition of the following:
"water polishing pad , Hydor hyrok"

what do they remove from the water?

 

hydor hyrok is lava granulat and water polishing pad doesnt say what it is but it says use when water is cloudy or after tank maintanence for crystal clear water.

I know that the purigen water polishing granules are said not to absorb enough ferts to have a visible impact on dosing. And from what i read about lava rock you might gain some minerals from it, but it shouldn't absorb ferts, its usually used as a medium for biofiltering
