Do You Name Your Fish?

Hey guys,


I got a new fish yesterday, and immediately named him like I did with all my other, and then thought: Am I weird for naming my fish?

So..? Am I..?

 

Did not name all my tetras but the one or two of the more noticable fish.

 

Yes I can imagine that it could be a bit difficult to distinguish between tetras if you've got a million, but fish like my fire eel, and huge gold deacon... they deserve to be named. At the moment my tank only has one fish so it's not that hard to name!

 

My wife use to name the male betta's.

That's awesome man... Fish should have names!

 

of the 85 fish we have in our tanks, these includes schools of white clouds, tiger barbs, bala sharks tinfoils and various loaches, some of them have deserved to be named, coz of there unique look or how they act...

albino rainbow shark - whitey (obvious lol)
polypterus - spike (for the spikes on his back)
a malawi with cool stripes - stripey (obvious lol)

more of them have names but these are our favourites..

we had a dark blue male betta called midnight, but we gave him to a friend as he harassed the 12cm tinfoils too much.

 

I am not giving my girlfriend the opportunity to name my fish anymore. They ended up with names like Eely (Fire Eel), Polly (Polypterus)... That's like naming your bullterrier Fluffy. It's just not on mate.

 

I name my fish. They are all called Bob.

 

Hahaha! That makes it easy I guess!

 

JIP my GF names them as well the parrot is apple and the convict male is akon lmao I thought she'll name him rambo but nope akon suits it better apparently lol.

 

arowana is mo
big female oscar is lil kim(used to be biggie smallz till she laid eggs)
albino oscar with crooked lip is tulip(pronounced chewlip)
other tiger oscar is baitie(after my father they have lots of similarities)
green deacon is eddie
and pleco is jack(cause he dont take jack sh...

I name my favourites

 

No but my father calls all of them little Kendalls.....very irritating!

 

Yip all my angels have names. Some of my cories, my pleco and my bala shark are named. Haven't named any of the tetras, danios, or guppys. Still trying to find the right names for my ansisterus pair. Any ideas LOL.

 

@ABaur bonni and clyde could work. I'v named all my bettas, 4 of em (apsolem,apollo,ares,hera), my bn ansistrus (marvin)and my pair of bronze cories(fred and georgina).

 

only one of the otto's has a name (the first otto i got) - he is called suckerface (the missus named it)

not named the new one yet...not until i know he will stay alive!

 

I feel much better seeing that I'm not the only one who names them!

My new fish is called Jack. He's only 5cm long, but should grow to be around 10", at which point he will eat everything! Whoohoo!

He already polished half a cube of bloodworms in one night...

 

and what is jack?
