Hi all, got two of these guys for each of my tanks yesterday, I think they are true SAE but not 100%

SAE, false SAE or flying fox, what do you think?
Sorry for the unclear pics, only had cell phone camera charged and have cropped the pics.IMG-20120806-00041.jpgIMG-20120806-00044.jpg

Those are definitely SAE. The black stripe goes through the tail fin. And you can see the fins are clear. The Flying Fox Doesn't have clear fins. More of a black coloration on edges of the fins.

    Hhmmm.
    Not in my experience
The chap at my lfs recommended them to me to control BBA. I didn't really like them, but got them anyway. And they never touched the algae! Got rid of them after a few months.

Awesome! thanks @doug, @morris and @SloMo.00., don't have a problem with BBA . . . yet. Got a big problem with BGA (well I'm pretty sure it's BGA) in my 2ft medium tech planted at the moment, just can't keep up with the stuff any suggestions there?

Don't want to go off topic here, but the SAE's you got, were they small or biggish, as they only start eating BBA once they get bigger

i bought six about month or two back, and they have grown fast! when bought them they were about two cms. now three cms, so if they are small hang in there. i stand to be corrected but dont SAE grow to about ten cms? what size do the start geating BBA?
    cheers doug

SAE yes. mine were about 4-5cm when I got them and they cleared BBA off my driftwood within 2 weeks.

I am sure they would start eating some BBA soon.
But now the other thing to remember, if you feed your fish on the heavy side, the SAE's will get lazy, and only eat the fish food given to them, thus stop eating the BBA

    Yip 10 - 12cm

the last thing that you can check (we wont be able to see from the pics) is to see if you can spot 2 little barbels on the mouth, if its got the 2 you can virtually be 100% certain, but even without looking at that i'm convinced these are SAE's

I will double check tonight, but I'm pretty sure I observed two small backward facing barbels.
    Thanks for the help guys.
