    Good morning,

My canister just started leaking, I took out the seal, used Vaseline and put it back, just 1 side leaking now, do you think its the clip or more Vaseline /silicone should do the trick, its a resun so not sure if I should just try and get another seal?

I would just try to get another seal, its usually the first thing to go. Sometimes you can use the orings you get in a pool shop or builders that is used in the swiming pool pumps. I have used them succesfully on some of my canisters.

If the seal is an o-ring type, take it to any general hardware or middas, or buy a larger one and cut down to size and mend with o-ring glue.

When putting a new one, should I just grease it with a thin layer of Vaseline to stop it from getting damaged?

no need for vaseline, you can just wet the o-ring and it should allow the canister to slide in.

Although a tiny bit of vaseline I have found helps to improve the overall integrity of the seal especially on an aged canister.

    Agree with above.
A new o-ring should do the trick

Changed the o ring, but still leaking, now when I remove the top it drips there as well nor when locked, maybe the head has a blockage because the intake pipe was blocked with gunk, so flushed that out, still leaking, maybe head is blocked

Not sure how these filters work. I had the orings on the tap internals on one of my canisters give way...

And it leaked through the main oring section although the water was not coming from the main oring if that makes sense...

When I tilt the Canister left to right, water gushes out, so definitely o ring, yes?

Did you replace it, if so make sure you fitted it correctly and that it did not break or snap.

I actually made one from an old canister, cut and join but its loose, so I need to cut again and join as it needs to fit like a glove, correct. No one has even my LFS and loolilocks order by request only

Canisters are a problem in my opinion. Anytime I buy a new filter, especially canisters and it's my main filter I buy a set of spares with it, orings & impeller. If they dont have I dont purchase. Had too many issues with getting spares in the past...

Lesson learned and its a pain because production stopped on resun, will try a seal place or pool shop as my last resort

I scrapped 3 canisters in my years of fish keeping. Hence the rule... no spares no purchase.

Good luck hope you come right.
