Buy Buy Fluval - Hello Aqua One

So after a year of many many frustrations with my Fluval 405 I decided to toss it! The reasons:

• Motor-well cover clips kept breaking. ( Later diagnosed as wear on the plastic in the actual outer part of the well where the clips hooked in. - not fixable but I made a plan that lasted a year...)
• Main seal leak. After replacing the seal 2 times and doing all the YouTube tips and tricks I got a out magnifying glass an inspected the plastic under the rubber seal only to discover many fine hair line cracks - no fix
• Struggling to get filter media.( last week I gave up after calling 7 of the biggest pet shops /LFS in Cape Town...
• Struggling to get spares... ( see above comment)

To cut a long story short the hunt began for a new Canister Filter for my 150 litre tank. After personal dislikes ( Fluval now), budgetary and availability constraints and many online reviews where completed I decided on the following filter

• Aqua One
• Canister Model: AQUIS 1200
• Number of Media Baskets: 3
• Dimensions: 22 x 40 x 22cm
• Max Aquarium Volume: Up to 250L
• Operating Flow Rate*: 750L/hr
• Maximum Flow Rate**: 1100L\hr
• Max Head Height: 2MFilter Volume: 12 Litres

What do I like about it:

• Easy to setup
• Came with a spray bar and duck bill
• Very easy to prime
• Came with a media pack
• Runs super quite
• 3 year local guarantee (in Cape Town) ( double plus)
• The price

Negatives:

• Not really much...maybe that they could have thrown a polish pad into the filter media.

The filter has been running a week now and the tank is looking great.

Updates to follow ...in 3 years and 1 day.
