Breeding Log - Yellow/Gold Crown Pair

fry are doing great, parents are into spawning tank for the second round. first batch small.

 

I have decided to give this crowntail pair a second time to spawn. Today 16th August this pair had spawn started at about after 14:00 and ended after 19:30.

 

Wake up this morning to fine a number of eggs on the bottom of the tank. What I have noticed is that the male is fanning the eggs that it laying at the bottom. During the spawning ritual he was embrassing different position and yet he squeezed out the eggs, not sure if he had fertilized them. He is also attending to some eggs inside the nest and he collects from the eggs that had fallen. Could it be that from those eggs laying on the bottom are unfertiled. I also added Tetra Medica General Tonic which contains methylene blue.

 

Second spawn unsuccessful. But first fry are doing great will add some pictures.

 

Will be moving larger fry to a grow-out tank.

This pair is currently back in spawning for a third time, second spawn was a failure.

 

Third attempt to spawn, but male died during the spawning period. Stay bedding himself onto the bubblewrap on top of the nest. Had then inside spawning tank for 1 week as they female is constantly holding eggs.

Fry are now 2 months old and eating like piglets

Photos was taken during the last few weeks, noticed over these last few days gold/yellow CT fry has grown at an alarming rate since switching them onto Atison Betta Pro micro pallets

 

Browsing through the fry tank last night noticed that one fry is showing male features. Fins are extremely long.

 

Will be separating the bigger fry into my 60L tank

 

Fry are now at 13 weeks and I have aggro fry male been monitoring during his growing stages, extremely aggressive seems parents genes has rubbed into this little bugger.

Fry 20 weeks old, females are already holding. Tested a brother and sister, sis was willing but brother still inexperience. It seems the ladies are taking over where the mother left off, so young are holding plenty of eggs. Mother and father died. Mother egg bound and male decided suicide is the next option.

 

Up dated on my fry

Yellow/Gold CT are taking over where their mom has left off. Already holding, had a brother and sister already inside spawning tank. He is a bit immatured does not know how to do the thing.
