At last this Yellow/Gold Crown Tail Female got her match, after beating the help out of 5 males and now she has found a man who put her on her place. It took almost a week for her to evetually cave in with this male's aggressive to sho her "who is the boss". Sunday morning I decided to through in the towel and give another pair chance to spawning. At about 8:30 Sunday morning, I approach their tank and notice the female constantly approaching the nest with head pointing downwards and slow body S-shape movement, male still beating on her. Then she bit him on the side and made his first move, but was not successful, it took him over an hour to wrap in completely over her. Three attempts no eggs, but fourth attempt luck struck, this pair went on for hours about 2:00 the afternoon they where done. Eggs eaten for the first couple of releasing but after that they work like a pair in harmony, after 2:00 she then became his biggest enemy. She had lots of damaged fins, put her inside my hospital tank and she back to her normal self trying to bully the other ladies.

@keith1964, at last hey. Congrats. I'm sure the fry will be stunning and you should get all yellow CT's (NR - Non Reds).

Very cool Keith. Just out of interest- do Betas recover quite well after they take a beating? Like your female in the picture for instance- she looks like she was involved in some rather rough loving- would you expect her to recover quite quickly?

My females tend to recover very fast comparing to my males. Males got badly beaten up and are taking a bit longer, probably because of the tedious blowing of buddles and keeping it in order and the tiresome chancing the females.

I was so excited about this female spawning that my spelling went through the roof LOL. What I meant was the tedious blowing of the bubbles and chasing the female around in the tank.

Eggs has hatched early hours of this morning.

i removed the male, he looked a bit tired out, placed him inside a holding tank. Added some seachem discus trace, prime and gave him a small amount of food. This morning he looks more active and flaring at himself. Struggled to get him away from fry as he stayed attacking the net.
Fry are now free swimming and i added infusoria and liqui-fry.

Last night I lowered the water level to about 5cm and added 1 drop of prime, for any ammonia. I have not seen dead fry around as yet and fry are growing.

Fry are doing fine, slowly increasing the water level in fry tank.

I had special low tanks built for my breeding setup and will eventually move fry to grow out tanks. Tank size L40cmxW25cmxH20cm. Feeding fry 3 times a day for the first 3 weeks new hatch brine shrimp and microworms. Week 4 fine crushed foods and flake. Regular clean water and as wiping off the surface of tank and removing any uneaten food and dead fry.

fry doing great at week 3, plus 30 fry. Will also introduce them with crush foods. Will be breeding this pair again as the current batch of fry all looks yellow/gold.

My spawning tanks are low that was built for me as they make it much easier to work in and to maintain. Will not use them to grow-out my fry I am having more grow-out tanks built L900cm x W450cm x H200cm.
