    Good day everyone
After 2 years of no tanks I finaly decided to setup a tank again.
I am setting up a 4ft 270l hi tech planted tank, custom led light that I built about 3 years ago.tetratec 1200 canister filter and co2. Everything is still going very slow. Slowly adding to the bio load as I am still cycling.
I am planning on a community tank consisting of rams, angels, harliquin rasboras, cories, ancistrus, and maybe discus.
Feel free to give your opinion.

    Welcome back.
Looking forward to seeing the tank transform from where it is now, to the end product.

Looking good! I'd say everything but the discus, especially if you're going the plantwd route. A lot of elbow grease and a barebottom tank is ideal to get these plates to adulthood.

Everything else together looks to be a busy and active bunch, good luck! :)

    Hi and Welcome back!!!

Always awesome to see people return to the hobby.. just proves once it bites.. you hooked!
Tank looks great so far and look forward to its progress

Your choice of fish sounds good but the discus are probably best as a species tank
However it is not impossible to have them in a planted tank.. its just double the hard work
Also if you determined to go discus with your community, make sure you get good quality adult discus
Baby discus need loads of feeding and have very specific requirements to be able to develop their full potential

    Welcome back.

It is quite difficult to have a high tech planted tank with Discus, but I have seen some fantastic looking ones. It can be done.

If you are going to go that route, get the Discus first. Larger the better, as you don't have to worry about growing them on - it's easier.
And then once you have mastered them, slowly add the planted component.

As for tank mates, you will be limited by what fish will live in Discus conditions (soft warm water).

Do plenty of research, and take it from there.
