As always during this time of the year, armies of Christmas beetles visit the Cape and like kamikaze bombers they crash into anything in their way, including into the fish tank and some even manage to get in, attracted to the light. My fish think this is all very yummy and exciting:sick:

my question is: is it a “safe treat†?

Only if they are slaughtered correctly...

Koi in ponds outside eat these things all the time. Don't think it has much of an effect...

These beetles eat my green peppers(bell peppers) and pepadews, all the time!
With the night light on in my fish room, some of them find their way into the open 2m tank, and my golden deacons and large angels rip them apart as a nice treat. I have to resist chemical warfare, as I'm afraid that some of the poisoned ones, could end up in the tank.
Anyone know of a better way to trap/catch them?

Is your 2m an open top tank?

My Jaguar Cichlid eats any bug that falls in the water. My wife has this nag of opening the sliders of my tank. She likes the sound of the water from my cannister spraybar that falls into the tank. I've seen my Jaguar eat moths, flying rice-ants, chrismas beetles, mosquitoes and even a grasshopper.

Nothing happened to him yet. My Jaguar is not big. About 12cm but his mouth is huge.

Ah. Of course. Silly me. My tank has also been partly open for the past week or so since I installed those T5s.
