Had this happen a couple of times in my tank aswell , pretty cool i admit though survival rate seemed to b low as when they hatch they dont have really hard shell and mainly hatch at night thus by the time you wake up they have already been someones breakfast but you do get a lucky one or two that survives , keep us posted on how this goes all the best

Looks like the small bunch in the centre pic hatched. Look for small snails in the tank.

I think they take 2-4 weeks to Hatch, they were laid yesterday!!! iv heard of people who remove them and put them in DIY incubators, but i guess im going to leave them there and let nature play its part!!! ill keep posting fotos as it goes!! Cheers!

Hi @Cheetah, I take it this tank is dedicated to the apples. What do you feed them? I know we are generally not allowed to discuss keeping them but Apple snails are klean up crews in any tank. They get biger than a golf ball btw.

Apparantly they're not. (And please, I'm not starting an argument here.) I just love my apples. They do and excellent job of turning excess food into feces, and do all kinds of cleaning tasks. Sure, you can also use plecs and otos, but its not quite the same.

Whenever I've had Apples, I've noticed that their shells seem to slowly erode and turn white. It's happened in all the tank I've ever kept apples in, regardless of pH (previously I'd thought that it was an issue with pH being too acid). Then I thought it could be plecos rasping away at their shells, but it happens in tanks without plecos, and the plecos don't even do it that much. The poor snails eventually die. I'm not sure why. I wonder if it's because my water is very soft? Maybe someone could shed some light on it?

My bet would be soft water. I've never had this problem, but our water is apparently pretty hard.

I agree with @KillerBunny, but they also seem to be very inbred. I always try to get some new blood, to add to me stock. One disadvantage of apples, is that you always have to be on the lookout for dead snails, as they can cause massive pollution if you don't find them in time.

I've read that if the water doesn't have enough minerals in it, their shells can't form properly/can't be maintained. But, would this actually cause the shells to appear to be corroding?
