    Hi All

I have recently purchased a pair of apistogramma agassizi. I have a standard 3ft tank currently setup with a 600lph ATMAN hang on filter, 100w heater (24-26 degrees celcius), black 2mm gravel and a T8 30w daylight tube. I also have 2 small plants of giant hygro with some hornwort in the tank. Centralised setting of lava rock and some other rocks forming bridges and some small caves the reason for the centred piece is that the tank can be viwed from 2 rooms. I would like to use this tank for the Apistos, but it is also home to 2 pairs of F1 Kribs that was purchased from Jenn.

I will be adding more plants and rock and changing the lights to T5.

Can I keep them all together, should I rather not?

Its more for display and have a back up tank in the event the start to breed.

    Regards

Personally, I wouldn't. Keep south American dwarfs with other soft water species like tetras and Angela or similar... Kribs are African cichlids which come from different water requirements.

Both species are very territorial when breeding, and they both breed in caves, so you may have some serious boxing going on in your tank, which could see one type being bullied. Maybe even to death.

Me personally, I'd go for the apistos.

know hear what Sean is saying, and I agree with him to a point...

Unless you planning on doing some serious breeding, then they will be fine in the tanks together, I have kribs and my apistos in the same tank, as well as other americans and africans so it can be done

Thanks for the information Lizid. Wil see how it goes - just gives me more reason to setup another tank though :)

I wouldn't have thought they would get on. Do you have pairs? Do you have LOTS of caves for them to choose from? How big is your tank?

That's what I would have thought.

How are they doing? :) Where's the pics?

    Hi Jenn

This is my 3ft setup. Of the 4 I got from you, 2 have grown full size - there seem to be 1 pair - the 2 large ones. The other 2 still seem to be coming around - the female is just starting to form her spot on the fin now. The other one is definately a male. I will have to add more rock is there - I have some good rock with holes in it and lots of lava rock too - so maybe it will work.

Once I add the rock and stuff, I will post a pic.

If I do end up putting all if them together, then it will be the 4 Kribs and 2 Apistos. Wife permitting, I may get to setup another 2 ft. LOL

    Regards
