I used black plastidip spray on my 40L tank. Works well.
Switch filter off for the week or so. The plants will survive. Enjoy your holiday and come back and think of a longer term solution.
It really depends on what fish you keep and how heavily you stock your tank. If you have a low bio load then those built-in filters are awesome.
