If you take some Vaseline and coat it around the O ring, it may get the leak to stop. I have done this in the past as a short term fix.
I also think this possibly has something to do with temperate. Try adjust the temp by 2 or 3 degrees and see what happens

I don't think these caps will last long But either the hyphae from the base will penetrate the log. Or the spores from these caps will seed new...
